Invoicing and VAT in Bahrain

Bahrain charges VAT and expects proper tax invoices. Here's the short guide for business owners and field teams.

VAT in Bahrain

Bahrain applies Value Added Tax at a standard rate of 10% (increased from 5% on 1 January 2022), administered by the National Bureau for Revenue (NBR). Some supplies are zero-rated or exempt.

What a compliant tax invoice needs

  • Seller name, address and VAT account number
  • Buyer details and VAT number for B2B
  • A unique sequential invoice number and issue date
  • Description, quantity and unit price of goods/services
  • The taxable amount, VAT rate and VAT amount (in BHD)
  • The gross total payable

Invoicing on the go

Retail and distribution teams still hand over a proper tax invoice at the point of sale. Invoice Max Pro works offline-first: issue the invoice on the spot and sync when you reconnect, keeping every document numbered.
