General Sales Tax (GST)
Jordan applies a General Sales Tax with a standard rate of 16%, administered by the Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD). Certain goods and services are taxed at reduced rates or exempt.
National e-invoicing (JoFotara / الفوترة الوطنية)
Jordan operates a national electronic invoicing system through the ISTD. Businesses register on the platform and issue invoices electronically so sales are reported to the tax authority. Onboarding has been rolling out across sectors — check the ISTD portal for your obligations and timeline.
What a compliant invoice needs
- Seller name and tax number
- A sequential invoice number and issue date
- Buyer details (for business customers)
- Line items with description, quantity and unit price
- The taxable amount, GST rate and tax amount (in JOD)
- The total payable including tax
Invoicing on the go
Shops, distributors and mobile sellers need to issue a valid invoice at the moment of sale. Invoice Max Pro is offline-first, so your team can invoice anywhere and sync to the backend when a connection returns.
